After nearly 70 years in business, Hand's on Long Beach Island had announced its expected closure in April.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, the store at 1310 Long Beach Blvd. in Beach Haven said it would remain open after all.

"It was decided that Hands will reopen under new ownership!!" Hand's announced on this Facebook page.

Hand's winter sale will continue until March 15.

Starting March 16, Hand's said it would begin to restock shelves and get ready for the summer.

"Please be patient with us during this process it will take some time to get back in fighting shape. Thank you everyone for your kind words and loyalty and we hope to serve this community for many years to come," the legendary store wrote on Facebook.

The owner of Hand’s is retiring and sold the property, according to earlier reports, which said the store is in “Everything Must Go” mode, with closeout markdowns on products.

Hand’s was founded in 1952. In addition to beach necessities, Hand’s sells clothing, furniture, hardware, home decor, toys, games and more.

Hand’s is the second local store to announce its imminent closing after decades in business. Another popular shop, Hobbymasters, plans to close on White Street in Red Bank after 45 years.
